What file formats does Ultimaker Cura support?

Ultimaker Cura supports STL, 3MF, OBJ, X3D, and AMF formats. STL is the most common and compatible — virtually every model marketplace exports STL. 3MF is the modern successor: it carries print settings, multi-part data, and material information in a single file and is fully supported in Cura 5+. OBJ is supported for models with materials but is less common in the 3D printing workflow. Cura does NOT support FBX, GLB, or BLEND natively without conversion.

How do I import an STL file into Cura?

Drag and drop the STL file directly onto the Cura build plate, or go to File → Open File(s) and select your STL. Cura automatically centers and orients the model on the build plate. What's the difference between STL and 3MF for Cura?

STL stores only triangle mesh geometry — no color, no print settings, no material data. Cura 5+ supports 3MF for both import and export.
