Jewelry Box with Print-in-Place Hinge, Snap Clasp & Mirror Lid
A leather-look jewelry box for FDM printers. The base and lid print in one job, already hinged, with no pins to fit and no glue on the hinge. When you take it off the bed, work the lid open a few times and it swings.
Features
Print-in-place hinge: 5 knuckles with cone pins and 0.4 mm clearances. It needs no supports, because every overhang is 45° or less.
Snap clasp: a flexing tab clicks over a catch at the front to keep the box shut. To open it, press the thumb lip.
Stays open: two small clip-in stop keys hold the lid at about 104°, just past vertical. Pull them out to lay the lid flat.
7 compartments:
2 ring rolls with slots
a long tray for necklaces and bracelets
smaller cells for earrings and watches
Mirror lid: a raised frame holds a standard 150 × 75 mm mirror, 2 mm acrylic or glass. The mirror is bought separately and fixed with double-sided tape. A finger notch lets you lift it out.
Pocket panel: a pocket in the lid clips onto 4 bosses, for flat items like pendants or cards.
Stitched-leather detail: stitching runs along every edge and the top. It looks best in cream, tan, black or any matte "leather" colour.
Size
Closed: 240 × 160 × 80 mm (9.4 × 6.3 × 3.1 in).
Print job: the base and lid print side by side, lid lying flat, as one 337 × 240 × 58 mm job.
⚠️ Bed size: the main job needs a bed at least 340 mm long, such as Creality K2 Plus, Prusa XL, Elegoo Neptune 4 Max or other 350 mm+ printers. It does not fit 256 mm beds (Bambu X1/P1/A1, Prusa MK4). The pocket, stop keys and test coupons fit any bed.
Print settings
Material: PETG is recommended, because the clasp flexes better and won't creep. PLA also works.
Settings: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layers, 3 walls, 15–20% infill.
Supports: none.
Brim: none, or outer edges only. Don't fill the gap between base and lid.
Don't scale the box file: scaling shrinks the hinge gaps and they will fuse.
Before the big print: a small hinge coupon (about 1 hour) and a clasp coupon pair are included. Print them first. They tell you whether the hinge frees up and the clasp snaps on your printer before you commit to a long job.
Files included
STL and 3MF, ready to slice:
the box (base + lid in one job)
the pocket
the stop keys (print 2)
the test coupons
The 3MF files are plate-ready: the pocket and both stop keys come on one plate, and all three coupons on another.
